The HOW-TO’s of corporate gift giving

Rule #3 — ST. PATRICK’S DAY — NOT JUST FOR LEPRECHAUNS.
Holidays were designed for the purpose of celebrating and that often comes with gift giving. While we all love gifts during the Christmas season, we also love receiving gifts at unusual and surprising times. While companies tend to stick hard and fast to mainstream traditions, we believe uprooting traditional gift giving may be a great way to set yourself apart. Think what kind of memory it would create if you sent out your “holiday” gifts on St. Patrick’s Day with a message of “We are LUCKY to be in association with you”. What about on Valentine’s Day and simply saying, “We LOVE doing business with you”.
Holidays are not the only time to celebrate. In the corporate world, think of events like a new product launch as an opportunity to have an impact on your clients. A growing trend we’ve seen is companies who give gifts on their anniversary of being in business. Make sure your clients know that they are the reason you started this endeavor and they are the reason you are lucky enough to be in business today.

Arbor Day – “We TREE-ly like you”. Daylight Savings – “With one extra hour in our day, we wanted to use it to thank you”. Groundhog Day – “Six weeks left of winter or not, we wish you a Phil-good day”. April Fool’s Day – “We’re going out of business. April Fool’s! We just want to thank you for years of support.”
Give in small ways. Give often. Give when you think of it and don’t procrastinate. Giving feels good and instills the habit of thoughtfulness — something we can always use more of in the corporate world. Give on. Give freely. And remember, giving is good.
